This bill will make it illegal to rent out any residential space for less than 30 days.

  • Would a vacation be made financially possible if your furnished, comfy home earned some [taxable] income while you’re away?
  • Have friends/family coming in but can’t house them all at your place? Oh, and a $200+ per night hotel is too expensive?
  • Planning on subletting your room for the 28- or 29-day month of February? (no joke)

These will all be illegal if the Governor Patterson approves the bill. Close friends, as well as myself, have relied on this supplemental income to tide us over during rough months. Further, this will eliminate a vital part of the NYC tourism market: people who would rather see an alternative side of the city, and who would rather spend their money at local businesses instead of Marriott and The Olive Garden.

PLEASE, if you live in NY State, make the 1-minute phone call. More info at Save NY Sublets.
